Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of the free trial. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Core medication reminders are free and do not require a subscription.
FAQ
Common questions.
- What does a completed check-in actually record?
- A completed check-in records that you confirmed taking your medication and that an item visually matched your registered reference photo. It does not prove ingestion, verify a prescription drug, or confirm medical adherence. DoseSignal is not an emergency service.
- How does visual matching work?
- When you set up a medication, you register your own reference photos. At each check-in, the app captures a live camera image and compares it to your reference on device using Apple's Vision framework and Core ML. Photos are never pulled from your photo library.
- What does a Care Partner see?
- Only what you allow. You can grant permission to see the schedule, receive alerts, or view history — and revoke any of those at any time. A Care Partner only sees information after actively accepting your invitation.
- What happens if I miss a check-in?
- Each medication has a configurable grace period. After grace, the check-in is marked as past-grace and — if you have enabled escalation — your Care Partner receives a notification. You can also report a reason (skipped, taken outside the app, other) with an optional note.
- How is my data stored and how long are photos kept?
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Live check-in photo retention defaults to 30 days and is configurable to Immediate, 7, 30, or 90 days. You can delete your account and all data from inside the app at any time.
- How do the plans work?
- Core reminders are always free. DoseSignal Plus ($6.99/month or $59.99/year) adds pill visual-match, up to three Care Partners, missed-check-in escalation, 90-day history, and weekly reports. Family Plan ($12.99/month or $109.99/year) supports up to five Medication Users and ten Care Partners with a family dashboard and downloadable summaries. Both include a 14-day free trial for new subscribers.
- Can I cancel any time?
- Yes. Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; the free plan remains available afterward.
- Does DoseSignal require Apple Health or share health data?
- No. DoseSignal does not read from Apple Health, does not sell health-related data, and does not use it for third-party advertising. Diagnostic data (if enabled) contains no medication names, no photos, and no personally identifying information.
- What devices are supported?
- iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The check-in camera flow requires a working rear camera. iPad and Mac are not supported at launch.
